Configuring Authorize.net

Authorize.net is a electronic payment service offered via the internet. It is a secure site and application that is certified by Visa & Mastercard to meet stringent security standards. Authorize.net may be manually accessed via a web address (URL) that may be typed into a compatible browser. The web address is:

Accessing Authorize.net directly via a web browser will display a log-in form. Once logged in, the Authorize.net starts and presents a payment form where an electronic payment may be accepted. In addition, a menu of it's other maintenance and reporting functions is available as well. ProfitSystem, when properly configured, will automatically process electronic payments via Authorize.net. Sign up with BBL for an Authorize.net account. Once accepted, Authorize.net will provide you with a username and password to access their site. You must keep this username and password in a safe place! Once you have received the username and password to access your account, log into your Authorize.net account using the web address above, then follow the steps listed here

Step 1

Confirm that you can process a credit card via Authorize.net by going to the Virtual Terminal under the Tools menu. You should be able to successfully charge a small amount to your credit card to confirm Authorize.net is configured correctly.

Step 2

From the left menu, select Settings under Account. Then, under Security Settings click API Login ID and Transaction Key. Authorize.net will display your API Login ID and Transaction Key. You may need to enter the answer to your secret question to retrieve your transaction key.

Step 3

Configure ProfitSystem to process credit card Sale/Credit & debit card transactions. From the ProfitSystem Main Menu, choose Main->Housekeeping->General Setup->Stores-> Options Tab.(for optional multi-store implementations this must be completed for each store) For Credit Card Processing choose Authorize.net. The Login and Trans Key fields will appear. Enter your API Login ID and Transaction Key from Authorize.net

Step 4

Exit from, and restart ProfitSystem. Test the integration by creating a ProfitSystem ticket and running a small charge through.
