Using Upgrades

All users that are covered under warranty or a service agreement can update themselves as often as they like. BBL posts updates to the BBL website as they become available. It is: http://www.bblsystems.com .

Updating ProfitSystem

  1. Make a complete backup of your data and program folders in case you must roll back to the current version of the program and data
  2. Exit from from the ProfitSystem on all computers.
  3. Start ProfitSystem.
  4. Click on the 'Help' menu and choose 'ProfitSystem...'.
  5. On the About form it will say 'Contract expires: '. If that date is in the past, do not upgrade. Contact BBL Systems to renew your support contract.
  6. Click on the Tools menu and choose Check to Upgrades. When using the switchboard, choose Housekeeping->Check for Upgrades.
  7. If a newer version is available, you will see a dialog box saying 'A newer version x.xx is available, and you are on version y.yy. Upgrade?'
  8. Click the Yes button.
  9. The installer for the new version will be downloaded. When it finishes downloading, you'll see a confirmation message.
  10. Click Ok and exit from the ProfitSystem program.
  11. After the program shuts down, the installer for the new version will start.
  12. Accept the defaults and let the program install.
  13. When it finishes, start ProfitSystem on the same computer.
  14. You may see a dialog indicating that your data needs to be updated. Make sure no other users are trying to use ProfitSystem. Click Yes. Once it finishes processing, restart ProfitSystem on this computer.
  15. Click on the 'Help' menu and choose 'About ProfitSystem / WinTPOS...'. Confirm that you are now running the new version.
  16. Finally, start the ProfitSystem on each computer in turn and repeat steps 6-12.
  17. That's it. All the computers will now be running the new version of ProfitSystem.
