Fingerprint Reader Setup
When using the Profit System on terminal server, a standalone computer is used as a login station for users to clock in and out with the fingerprint reader. This login station runs the finger print reader software to scan fingerprints, and connects to the terminal server via RDC.
The steps are to install the finger print reader and drivers, then install the Profit System bridge software, and finally configure the Profit System to use the finger print reader.
First, install the finger print reader and drivers. 1. Install the U are U Windows SDK located at https://bblsystems.com/downloads/fp/DigitalPersonaBiometricSDKforWindows_3.4.0.zip 2. Connect the fingerprint reader to an available USB port.
Next, install the Profit System bridge software 1. On the login station create a folder called C:\UareU in the root of the C: drive and copy into that folder the file https://bblsystems.com/downloads/fp/UareU.exe 2. Add a shortcut to the startup folder to start uareu.exe when the PC restarts.

- Select the Start button and scroll to find the app you want to run at startup.
- Right-click the app, select More, and then select Open file location. This opens the location where the shortcut to the app is saved. If there isn't an option for Open file location, it means the app can't run at startup.
- With the file location open, press the Windows logo key + R, type shell:startup, then select OK. This opens the Startup folder.
- Copy and paste the shortcut to the app from the file location to the Startup folder.
Finally, configure the Profit System 1. Start Remote Desktop Connection and connect to the terminal server. 2. Start the Profit System. 3. Go to Main->Housekeeping->General Setup->System Setup->Options tab and check “Use fingerprint reader for time clock?” option. 4. Restart the Profit System.
