Upgrade Workstation
These instructions describe the proper procedure for installing the ProfitSystem upgrade. Please read these instructions carefully before attempting to install the upgrade. Contact BBL Systems if you have any questions prior to installing.
Prerequesites

Do NOT perform an upgrade on a weekend - should some unforeseen issue occur during the upgrade, or as a result of the upgrade, BBL Systems provides upgrade support Mondays through Fridays, 10:00AM to 6:00PM only. The entire upgrade procedure can take up to 1 hour to complete, so plan accordingly.

Make sure you have a COMPLETE backup of your data folder BEFORE starting the upgrade.
If you've been using ProfitSystem for a long time, your data could be in C:\TPSWINS, located on your server. Check for this folder first. Otherwise:
If you're using Windows XP or Server 2003, your data is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ProfitSystem.
If you're using Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Server 2008, your data is located in C:\ProgramData\ProfitSystem
Backup this folder and all its sub-directories. If you don't understand what this means, contact BBL Systems Tech Support at (800) 587-7277 x 2 FIRST.
- Before installing the upgrade, verify that your ProfitSystem service contract is up-to-date. Click on the Help menu in ProfitSystem, then select About ProfitSystem/WinTPS. In the window that appears, look for the line labeled 'Contract expires:'. If the date shown has passed, you will need to have your ProfitSystem license file updated PRIOR to performing this update!!!! If you perform the update without this date being current then ProfitSystem will NOT start. You may call BBL during business hours for us to manually extend the service date OR you may email us the license file and we will update and email back. See the instructions at the end of this email.
If there are any instructions here that you do not FULLY understand, contact BBL Systems technical support BEFORE installing this upgrade.
Update

If you'd like to receive a CD in the mail, please reply to this email and we'll send one right out.

Make sure everyone is out of ProfitSystem. All workstations should exit from ProfitSystem, and MUST NOT START AGAIN until the upgrade process is complete on ALL workstations.

Run the wsetup.exe program on one workstation that uses ProfitSystem, preferably your server computer. It will upgrade the program to the current version.

Start ProfitSystem on that workstation.
If the data files need to be updated ProfitSystem will prompt you to update them. Click Yes and make sure no one else tries to use ProfitSystem while the data files are being updated. When asked if you wish to backup your data files, select Yes. When it is finished updating you can start ProfitSystem on that computer and confirm it is working.
Repeat steps 2-4 for each workstation.
If any other computers ask to update the data after it was updated on your server (first computer updated) it means that they are using an older version of ProfitSystem (not 8). Do not update the data from any other workstation. Repeat step 3 on the workstation that requested a data file update to insure v8 was installed properly. If it continues to ask for a file update then contact BBL ASAP.
