BigCommerce

Overview

BigCommerce (BC) is a feature rich very powerful online eCommerce store system. It is not tailored to any specific industry, but designed to work with many different types products and services. The look and feel and features offered may be easily altered as well, allowing a unique look and feel to each store. Also there is a large number of 3rd party applications that may be added to extend it's functionality/ Lastly there is a large network of support/enhancement programmers available that may be hired to implement very unique capabilities such as shipping, payment options and many others. Several standard free themes are included and look nice very nice.

With BigCommerce, it will be the store's responsibility to load up it's inventory system with the products that will be sold online.

everywhereBridal's integration to BC will push/export it's inventory to BigCommerce automatically as new items are added to inventory or as existing styles are edited, once the eCommerce information is completed for each. Information exported includes size & color charts and images, attributes, descriptions and pricing. As inventory is added to everywhereBridal it will be sent to BC based upon it's 'Sold Via' eCommerce setting.

Integration Steps

  • Sign up for a BC store. This will provide a BC online software dashboard accessible via username/password where the store may be themed, specific features set such as tax rates and shipping information, and creation of a V2 API which when entered in everywhereBridal turns on the eCommerce integration. The API key and password must be entered into everywhereBridal. Administration - > Setup -> Store Setup - eCommerce. Complete the fields on the form. Review the BigCommerce Activation topic for more info.
  • Visit each inventory item for existing inventory or on new Add of inventory and enter the eCommerce settings via the eCommerce page of the inventory style. Complete the style information (such as price, images, size and/or color charts, etc. On SAVE, ProfitSystem will follow the 'Sell Via setting, and if instructed will export the details of the inventory style to BC. eCommerce editing occurs on the inventory style forms, Home -> Retail inventory -> Edit style -> eCommerce.
  • Once inventory items are exported to BC, they are linked to the everywhereBridal, where style detail updates to eCommerce linked inventory styles are automatically updated in BC as they are added/edited. Also, when they are sold within the everywhereBridal , quantity on hand for the SKUs in BC are automatically updated with the new QOH.

Please review Retail Inventory for explanations of the eCommerce form fields.

NOTE: When a eCommerce visitor makes a online purchase, the store is alerted to the purchase details, whereby the customer will be registered and the sale rung up in everywhereBridal manually by a store operator. The SALE will be processed in everywhereBridal any other sale would be. The store would log into BC and update the Status of the order from Pending/New (online order statuses are configurable in BC) to In Process/Confirmed and to capture the payment (most shops do not process payment of initial ordering online. They wait until they know they can receive the merchandise in the time frame requested by the online customer). Once the order is Confirmed in BC, the online Customers credit Card is processed for payment in BC and that payment manually entered in everywhereBridal onto the Customers newly created ticket.

Pro Tip #1: Inventory Style Attributes are pushed to BC and placed into custom product fields for the style. The first 4 entered attributes are automatically utilized by BC for it's 'built in' faceted searching abilities (your BC subscription must include the faceted search option) for these attributes to be utilized for searches. Example of attributes could be a fabric type and/or length and/or silhouette. Attributes can be created on demand in everywhereBridal so the store should develop a strategy for the creation/use of attributes.

Pro Tip # 2: Extra Length fee. When a Extra Fee exists for a style named XL or Extra Length, it will be added as a option for the style in BigCommerce, thus allowing a user to select it when needed. It will show as a option on the BC Product Detail page where price, size and colors appear.

Pro Tip # 3. Color Charts and color chart Labels. When color chart(s) are assigned to a everywhereBridal inventory style, the eCommerce export will send the chart to BC and create an option set. A color swatch will be created if the color chart name has a color HEX code assigned (HEX code is the actual color representation of the color name. All paint/graphic programs will show the HEX code when a color is selected if the store needs to find a color HEX code). The Color option on BC will be given the color chart label name entered for it on the everywhereBridal Inventory Style exported. Up to THREE color charts may be assigned to a inventory style.

Pro tip #4. Size Charts are assigned to a everywhereBridal inventory style, the eCommerce export will send the chart to BC and create an option set as it is entered/assigned on the inventory style.

Tip: The Home -> Retail Inventory SEARCH grid may be filter on the eCommerce SOLD VIA setting and if an image exists or not for styles in everywhereBridal. This is helpful when going managing the inventory to see what has and has not been set-up for eCommerce exporting and/or filtering to styles that do not have any image assigned.
