Physical Inventory Introduction

Inventory -> Retail Inventory -> Physical Stock Take

The Retail Inventory Physical is a tool to allow the shop to count the inventory within a shop's store, to insure the inventory quantities shown for a specific store location are correct. Physicals are the best tool to catch theft of inventory. When the count is complete, variances may be shown to see where inventory is short and thus showcasing items lost.

The count is done via the item's bar-code number that is automatically assigned when it is added to a style's Quantity on Hand form. The bar-code represents the inventory SKU. When printing EverywhereBridal/Prom/Retail price tags via Zebra thermal printer the bar-code is printed in 3of9 or I2of5 bar-code symbology. This makes the taking of physical inventory counts fast and easy.

A Count take may be applied for selected inventory categories or for the entire store. This allows for the store to count a section of the store vs the entire store. This would encourage physical counts to be taken more often, since the time to accomplish is less.

The store should count the inventory categories while no sales are taking place, i.e. when the store is closed The store could reopen prior to the count being applied to the retail inventory if needed, thus providing time to insure the count is correct.

There is not an limit on the number of physicals that may be completed during the year.

There are four (4) steps to perform a Physical inventory count.

  1. Start a New Physical
  2. Count the inventory
  3. Run Exception reports to catch errors
  4. Apply the Count to inventory

There is a help topic for each step.
