How do I cancel sales
- Visit the customer's receipt/ledger.
- Click the CANCEL transaction link
- A list of previous SALE Transactions will be listed for that customer. Choose the SALE transaction to cancel
- A customer may have paid money toward the sale. Depending on the store policy the customer may forfeit monies paid OR the store may REFUND all or just a portion of the money paid
- To account for money being forfeited by the customer, some fee should be sold to the customer for the amount that will NOT be refunded to the customer. Example could be a store style SERVICEFEE should be sold to the customer and the price is the amount of money being forfeited by the customer. Click SALE and enter SERVICEFEE for the style, then manually enter the price.
- If a negative balance is left on the receipt after the sale (means that is the amount due back to the customer) Click the REFUND transaction type and enter the amount of any money being refunded
The SALE being canceled may have been special ordered. Three scenarios exist for this situation.
- The PO is issued (i.e. there is a PO number assigned) AND has not been received. This will cause a POPUP message to appear indicating to the user the item is on a outstanding PO and if the user responds with Proceed with cancellation, the PO will be converted to a STOCK order. The stock order can be FORCED CLOSED if the store contacts the vendor and can abort the PO. However if the PO cannot be aborted, it would be received as new retail stock, thus the reason it was converted to a STOCK order.
- The PO is open and partially received, meaning a quantity of 1 or more is still outstanding on the PO. In this case, the received quantity will be automatically added to the Retail Inventory Style of items received, the outstanding quantity will be deleted.
- The PO is fully received. The received quantity will be automatically added to the Retail Inventory Style for stock.
To Cancel Sales on Special Orders requires a Manager or higher security level.
